Los días de fiesta. Les jours de fête, Ferien, Le feste

     Durante la semana entre la Navidad y el Año Nuevo, las mesas del español, francés, norvego y italiano no van a reunirse.  La mesa del español regresará el 4 de enero;  Las del francés y norvego, el 7 de enero; y la del italiano el 9 de enero.  ¡Felíz Navidad y Próspero Año Nuevo!

     Pendant la semaine entre le Noël et la Bonne Année, les tables de l'espagnol, l'italien, le français et le norvégien ne se rencontreront pas.  La table d l'espagnol se rencontrera le 4 janvier; les tables du français et du norvégien retourneront le 7 janvier; et laquelle d'italien, le 9 janvier.  Joyeau Noël et Bonne Année à tout le monde!

     I løpet av uken mellom julehelg og nyttår, bordene av spansk, fransk, norsk og italiansk skal ikke møte.  Spanskebordet igjen skal møte 4 januar; franskebordet og norskebordet på 7 januar; og italienskebordet på 9 januar.  God Jul of Godt Nyttår til alle!

     Durante la settimana tra il Natale ed il Anno Nuovo, le tavole dello spagnolo, francese, norvegese e italiano non si riuniaranno.  La tavola dello spagnolo tornarà il 4 di genaio; le tavole del francese e del norvegese, il 7 di genaio; e la dell'italiano tornarà il 9 di genaio.  Buon Natale e Buon Anno Nuovo a tutti!

     During the week between Christmas and New Years, the Spanish, French, Norwegian and Italian tables will not be meeting.  The Spanish table will return the 4th of January; The French and Norwegian tables on the 7th of January; and the Italian will return the 9th of January.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Verborrágico a la mesa de español

     Hoy día, a la mesa de español, discutimos la palabra «verborrágico».  Dijimos que muchos argentinos son verborrágicos.  ¿Qué queremos decir cuando usamos esta palabra?  Indica persona bién educada quién tiene vocabulario muy grande, y puede usarlo para bién expresarse.  De cierto es una palabra positiva.  Pero, ¿Cuál es la palabra inglesa?  No podíamos descubrirlo.  Sino, después de regresar a casa, y discutirlo con mi esposa, tengo la respuesta.  Mi esposa sí es «verborrágica.»  "Verbose?" Eso no, demasiado negativo.  "Loquacious?"  No, mejor, pero ya también demasiado negativo.  "Eloquent?".  Eso sí.  ¡Qué buena conocer nuevas palabras!

     Today at the Spanish table, we discussed the word «verborrágico»  We said that many Argentines are verborrágicos.  What do we mean when we use this word?  It indicates a well educated person with a large vocabulary who is able to use it to express himself very well.  But, what is the English word?  We couldn't come up with it.  But, after returning home and discussing it with my wife, I have the answer.  My wife is very "averborrágica".  "Verbose?"  No.  Too negative.  "Loquacious?"  Better, but still too negative.  "Eloquent?"  Of course!  How pleasant it is to meet new words!

Bayram türkçe masada, Holiday for the Turkish table

Bayram dolayısıyla türkçe masa birkaç hafta buluşmıyacak.  Bir daha başlacağımız zaman burada bir bildiri yazacağım.  Bayramınız kutlu olsun!

Due to the holidays, the Turkish table will not be meeting for several weeks. I will write a notice here when we begin again.  Happy holidays!

日本語は 中国で , Nihongo wa Chugokude , Japanese in China

六　月　まえ、中国に　いきました。　　まい　日、　北京を　あるきました。 まい　日、中国の　人と　話しました。　いちど　としをと　人を　見ました。  私が　おもました、彼は　こんらん　です。　私が、　中国語で　話しました　”对不起，可以 帮助 吗？”  日本語で　"すみません、どうしましたか？”　彼は　私を　見て、話しました、"Do you speak English?"   彼は　日本の人　でした。　中国語を　分かりません　でした。　 私たち　英語で　話しました。　彼を　たすけいました。　今、日本語を　べんきょうします。 この　つぎ　私は　中国で、　日本の人を　見たち、　多分　日本語で　
話します。

Roku getsu mae, Chugoku ni ikimashita.  Mai nichi, Beijing o arukimashita.  Mai nichi, Chugoku no hito to hanashimashita.  Ichido toshiyoto hito o mimashita.  Watashi ga omomashita, kare wa konsen desu.  Watashi ga Chugokugo de hanashimashita, "dui4 bu4 qi3,ke2yi3 bang1zhu4 ma?"  Nihongo de "Sumimasen, doushimashitaka?"  Kare wa watashi o mitte, hanashimashita,"Do you speak English?"  Kare wa Nihon no hito deshita.  Chugokugo o wakarimasen deshita.  Watashitachi Eigo de hanashimashita.  Kare o tasukemashita.  Imo Nihongo o benkyomasu.  Kono tsuchi watashi wa Chugoku de, Nihon no hito o mitase, tabun Nihongo de hanashimasu.

Six months ago, I went to China.  Every day I walked around Beijing.  Every day I talked with Chinese people.  One day I saw an old man.  I thought to myself, he looks confused.  In Chinese I said, "Excuse me, can I help you?"  In Japanese, "Excuse me, can I help you?"  He looked at me and said, "Do you speak English?"  He was Japanese, and he didn't understand Chinese.  We spoke in English, and I helped him.
Now I study Japanese.  Next time I'm in China and meet a Japanese person, maybe I can speak Japanese.
